A real beauty of a splitting maul, this fine piece of Italian steel features a geometry that allows for easy penetration with explosive splitting force. With a head weight of only 2500g, or about 5.5lb, this maul comes in a little lighter than can usually be found in North America, making for easy endurance swinging during long splitting sessions.
The handle is slipped through the top of the eye like a tomahawk or pick axe, which allows for easy replacement of damaged handles and permits multiple handles to be used on the same head. We use one of these on the Baryonyx homestead and use the long factory handle for splitting large rounds, but transition the head to a shorter handle for splitting kindling and arm-thickness pieces in the basement--an invaluable feature! Only a few seconds are required to swap one handle for the other.
If selecting the Special Grade option we will thin and refine the factory edge.
