When Council had to renew the forging dies for their 5lb Dayton model, popular for use as a wedge-banger by fallers in the timber industry, they capitalized on the opportunity to make the design even better for the purpose, and when fitted to a long 36" handle it becomes a phenomenal splitting axe. The ample poll gives the axe excellent balance, making Tom Clark "Buster"-style twist splitting technique a breeze! Please note that while the poll is chamfered to help minimize damage to plastic tree felling wedges when driving them, it is unhardened and should not be used for striking metallic objects. A real brute of an axe!
