Rinaldi Tall Peening Anvil

Peening anvils are used for drawing out a hollow bevel on the edges of European tensioned scythe blades, sickles, and grass hooks. This high quality Italian-made example features a beautifully hard face and a tall body that makes it easy to reach the full length of the edge even on blades with steeply angled tangs.

Mount the anvil in a stump or post before use. Pre-drill a hole slightly narrower and shorter than the spike and drive the anvil into it by resting a wooden block on the projecting shelf and striking the block with a hammer.

These anvils require minor dressing of the face to round the edges off of it and bring the surface to a high polish. This can be done with a file and fine grit sandpaper. If selecting the Special Grade option we will do this work for you so that it is ready for mounting and use right out of the box.
